THS ComMedia

This Blog has been specifically created for Mr. MacArthur's ComMedia Class at Tolland High School for the Spring Semester, 2006. We will be following the big stories of the next few months and how they're covered (or not covered) in the media (MsM and Alt!).

"Arthur if it's a boy. . .

Martha if it's a girl."

That's what I wanted to name my firstborn child.

But it could have been worse. Check out this story of one poor woman, whose mother decided to name her "Marijuana Pepsi". (Her friends call her Pepsi, but professionally -- she's a teacher, by the way -- she insists on "Marijuana").

I hate it when people name thier kid's crazy names. Do they want their kids to be given a hard time in school or at work? I thought Apple was bad but now there's Talula Does The Hula In Hawaii and Marijuana Pepsi. I'll give the parents one thing though, the names are very creative.

O Wow, Marijuana Pepsi should have the pity of the world. Who would ever...ever...ever name their kid after a narcotic, that absolutely sucks! I feel horrible for this person, the parents are definately flower children. :(

Okay at first when I saw that I was like Whaaat?! Who in their right mind would name their child Marijuana?? And I still think it's crazy but I don't feel bad for her, really, after I actually read the article. I think her story is kind of cool, and it's great that she's using her experience and her name to reach out and be an inspiration to people.

this is terrible. and i wonder why she didint leagally change her name when she was 18. if my kid came home saying that their teachers name was marijuana i would never bring them back there again. that is simply un professional and innapropriate, especially in a learning enviornment.
